We Are Family: A devoted single mother, her privileged gay soulmate and her precocious daughter struggle to find a better life in a system that’s built against them.
That life on the social fringes of Great Britain is not easy, we know from numerous similar series ("Shameless") and the cinema of a Ken Loach. However, the struggle against the mills of the system and for a better life has rarely been told as warmly and at the same time with black humor as in "Rain Dogs". Conceived by already acclaimed as a new author Cash Carraway, the series, created as a co-production between the BBC and HBO, follows single parent Costello Jones (Daisy May Cooper, "This Country"), who, along with her precocious daughter Iris, must constantly overcome new obstacles. The dysfunctional team receives support from two other outsiders: Costello's gay friend (and Iris' surrogate father) Selby (Jack Farthing) and the chaotic godmother Gloria (Ronke Adékoluejo). Together the disparate quartet demonstrates cohesion on the stumbling path not further down.
