"Dopesick" tells the true story of how America became addicted. Addicted to a lie that the pharmaceutical industry has pushed and thousands of pharmaceutical representatives have carried into doctors' offices and to pain patients. Initially, compassionate doctor Samuel Finnix (Michael Keaton) also succumbs to this lie of the perfectly working painkiller. He is at the center of the action, as are those responsible, the increasingly overburdened drug authorities. But above all, "Dopesick" tells of the victims of the opioid crisis.
Based on the best-selling nonfiction book of the same name, the Hulu drama tells of one of the greatest disasters in recent U.S. history. Directed by Oscar winner Barry Levinson ("Rain Man"), "Dopesick" examines all aspects of the so-called "opioid crisis" and intertwines the various fates in a similar way that Steven Soderbergh once managed to do with the drug classic "Traffic." Embodied by, among others, Michael Keaton, Rosario Dawson, Kaitlyn Dever, Michael Stuhlbarg and Peter Sarsgaard, who make the mini- a real exceptional series.
