The dystopian society of the future is structured according to a “citizen score”: In the Dutch-Belgian-German co-production, a family experiences in the supposedly paradise-like Arcadia a not so brave new world.
While in our present weal and woe of social recognition seem to be linked to likes and followers in social media, the class and status of the people depend on a so-called "citizen score".In the post-catastrophic and resource-restricted future of "Arcadia", the class and status of people depend on a so-called "citizen score". Only those who are a healthy, focused and efficient part of society are allowed to lead a good life in this Orwellian draft of the future. Family father Pieter wants nothing else for his own. Which is why he has obviously fiddled around with the crucial algorithm to artificially raise the score of his wife and two daughters. Their struggle for resurgence becomes a fight for survival in an impressively realized and far too near future.
