A former actor, Annetta Laufer worked in theatre before moving into film, writing and directing numerous award-winning shorts along the way. She is also a Berlinale Talents alumn 2021. In 2013 she founded Roman Candle Productions, a film production company focused on black and female–led films. Recent directing credits include the 2022 New Year’s Special of TV Series »Doctor Who« for BBC Studios, and the 2nd block of »Get Millie Black«, a new limited series created by Marlon James for HBO and Channel 4, to be broadcast in 2023.
