The European Room - The Realities of Truly European Writer's Rooms (Roundtable)
With the advent of the golden age of TV series, the idea of the writer’s room as an integral ingredient for high quality and high production capacities was first brought to Europe’s shores. Nearly a decade later it seems that the idea how a writer’s room works and how it could be adapted to local requirements has morphed into an array of various workable solutions. Above all stands the question: Next to local differences of adapting the concept, has there formed a notion of an European writer’s room? Is there the opportunity to create true pan European writer’s rooms? What are the political and legal consequences? Just some of the questions pondered in this important round-table discussion on the realities and challenges of the “European Room”!
